Crumpling experiments

Ferrier, Tissue Map. 2021

Crumpling paper requires the repeat action of pressing, and unfolding multiple times. The paper will then retain a different form. By squeezing and pressing, followed by unfolding gently we can retain an aesthetic that works for these architectural lines. This exercise below shows part of the process. The drawings can be partly revealed, and concealed in order to create the transformation of a single piece of paper.

These are tests at the moment, I feel that they do not fit with current folding work. This is why experimentation is so valuable, it feeds your mind with possibilties for future explorations. This will be part of another series.

I am currently in negotiations with a fabricator in California in relation to two of these images. They would like to aquire them for installation in a new hotel in Houston.
